Resisting Change
How many other people out there are going through a lot of change? Here’s a conversation between the Lord and I.
I told the Lord, I don’t like change, why is everything changing. He responded “Jason it’s not that you don’t like change it’s that you don’t like losing control and the next season I’m asking you to give me control and surrender.” He said “if you really believed that I have a greater plan for your life than you do then you would have no problem yielding to me and giving me control.”
He said “it really comes down to trust, how do you develop trust? You spend time getting to know someone. I’m calling you into deeper intimacy with me. Change is an invitation into a deeper relationship with me. Stop resisting change.”
He then showed me this picture and said “it’s like a caterpillar changing into a butterfly. If the caterpillar stayed in the cocoon and said no I refuse to change, I don’t want to change. What’s going to happen out there? What if my wings fail? What about all the enemies out there? I’ll just stay here.” The lord said “by resisting change you are actually placing a cocoon around yourself that will restrict your ability to fly to the places that I have called you to be. Embracing the changes I’m making creates in you the strength to break out of the cocoon and through this process your wings are grown so you can fly to new heights, however the height you fly depends on the depth of intimacy you develop with me on the way out of the cocoon.”
